March 29, the Marlborough High School Jazz Ensemble competed in the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Educator’s State Finals in Framingham.  The group was adjudicated by three collegiate jazz professors and received a GOLD medal rating for their outstanding performance.

Special recognition for Outstanding Musicianship went to Connor Bailey on trumpet and Sarah Hanahan on alto saxophone.

This distinction comes with an invitation to perform in Boston at the Hatch Shell Memorial on Sunday, May 4th.

Congratulation to all on an exceptional performance!

On Friday, Sept. 20, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released its 2013 information about school accountability, how our school is performing relative to other schools, and the progress our school is making toward narrowing proficiency gaps for different groups of students. To access the MHS parent letter (three languages) regarding this information and the district- and school-level DESE “report cards,” see our NCLB Report Card webpage.

Science Fair video stars: Kudos to MHS students Bishakha Bhattarai, Alex Aquila and Charlie Brooks and science teacher Jo-Anne Sawyer who recently participated in the filming of three videos, the first in a planned series to be used by the Society for Science and the Public, an organization behind international science fair programs at both the middle school and high school levels.
